Reaction (2019) consisting of Gooey (2019), Bubble (2019) and Petri (2019
In a world of increasingly finite resources and environmental degradation, it is essential that the discovery vocations of the arts and sciences collaborate to research and innovate new solutions for a future of environmental change. Through my practice, I place art as the translator between chemistry and the viewer, exploring fleeting moments of ‘reaction’ and the alchemical shifts that lead to the transformation, creation, or combination of new and existing forms.
My degree show works consists of live reversible reactions, which through interaction reveal their hidden sound and colour-changing properties, placing the viewer in the role of the catalyst.
Gooey (2019)
Thermochromic pigments react to viewers body heat, transforming into a spectrum of colours
Gooey (2019)
Bubble (2019)
Oil and water mix and separate, exploring interactions between art and science through live reactions
Petri (2019)
Bacterial inspired forms turn colourful as photochromic pigments transform with exposure to UV light
